The Wii Speak Channel lets people in up to four locations, who have the Wii Speak Channel and micrphone, and have traded Friend Codes, chat with one another using their broadband internet connections. When chatting through the Wii Speak Channel your Mii appears on the TV screen and mimics your chat. You also can leave audio messages for your friends and family members or use Wii Speak to narrate captions for your photos.
How to get it: Purchasers of the Wii Speak microphone will be able to use an included Wii Ticket Download Number to download the Wii Speak Channel. The Wii Speak microphone is sold separately, or with special bundles of the game Animal Crossing: City Folk.
Please note that a compatible internet connection is required to use the Wii Speak Channel (click here if you need assistance connecting your Wii console online), and the WiiConnect24 feature must be turned on (more info).

Players can chat with players in up to three other locations through Wii systems that have been registered to their Wii Message Board. To set up a Chat session, one person (the Host) will need to ask to Chat with a Wii Friend who is currently signed on to the Wii Speak Channel.

Players can register the friends they want to chat with as Wii Friend. Players will need to exchange their Wii Console Number in order to register each other.
Note: Friends that have already been registered through the Wii Address Book will appear automatically. However, Wii Friends registered via cell phone or email address will not be displayed.

Can I download this channel without owning the Wii Speak microphone?
Because the Wii Speak microphone is required to use the Wii Speak Channel, you must have the Wii Speak microphone to download the channel. If you need assistance with downloading the Wii Speak Channel, click here for detailed instructions.
Can I use the Wii Speak Channel while playing a game?
The Wii Speak Channel is a separate program that cannot operate at the same time as another program, such as a game.
Some games, such as Animal Crossing: City Folk, can be made to include a similar type of functionality which will allow players to interact with the Wii Speak microphone. This in-game feature is completely separate from the Wii Speak Channel. The Wii Speak microphone can only be used in games that have been specifically programmed to use it.
Can I use other microphones?
Games and other software that display the Wii Speak microphone icon (view) are designed to work specifically with the Wii Speak microphone accessory.
Any other licensedor unlicensedmicrophones that are available are not compatible with these games (this includes the microphones for Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc). Additionally, the Wii Speak microphone will only work with these games and other software that display this icon.
